Merv Hughes was a big-hearted fast bowler and an Aussie sporting legend, loved by cricket fans globally as he ripped through batting line-ups all over the world. Representing Australia between 1985 and 1994, Merv gave every ounce of effort to his country, and helped it to re-climb the ranks of Test cricket.
Aside from being one of Australia's most recognisable and loved cricket identities, Merv also has an enormous passion for fishing. Its this passion that saw Merv release his first book in 2006, ‘Caught in the Deep’. By his own admission, Merv is along way short of being an expert angler, but as Merv explains with his mixture of humour, anecdotes and a little input from some of Merv's more experienced fisho mates, you don't have to be a pro to enjoy fishing. All you need is a sense of adventure, a love of the outdoors and a willingness to learn from those who know! In 2015 Merv extended his love of fishing to TV, in a new fishing show he co-hosted on ONE.
Paul Worsteling is arguably one of the most recognisable faces in recreational fishing in Australia with an unmistakable passion, enthusiasm for the sport and laugh! Paul started the popular IFISH program on the TEN network, with IFISH now being regarded by many as Australia’s premier fishing program. You can meet PW on the Catch & Cook Stage in the Upper Exhibition Building.

Growing up a farm-boy, Simon gathered skills and knowledge that serve him well in the bush. He has a passionate love for the ocean and spends all his spare time fishing and diving when based on his farm on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. He has travelled across the sunburnt land of Australia by 4 Wheel Drive and motorbike many times, each time striving to push further into uncharted territory. Simon’s laid back approach and ‘try anything once’ attitude are the perfect accompaniment for Jase. Together they are formidable in their battlecry – “we are all for the adventure.”
