Built for the BYD Shark Platform

The BYD Shark isn't built like a traditional ute, and its hybrid systems, integrated electronics, and factory design need a different approach to fitting a canopy. Rather than stacking a tray and canopy together, MRT's chassis mount design functions as a permanent service body that mounts directly to the chassis, integrating with the vehicle's electrical and fuel systems for full side access in a secure, weatherproof shell. The result is lower overall weight, a better centre of gravity, more usable internal space and improved load distribution, and greater long-term durability. mrt

For tub variants, the factory tub can be removed and replaced with the same chassis mount canopy system, meaning owners aren't limited by the factory configuration.

Engineering Considerations

Fitting a canopy to the BYD Shark requires specialised engineering to work around the vehicle's hybrid components. MRT's installation covers:
