Over the course of three months, the Hema Map Patrol and Alpha Teams undertook an intensive data capture mission, remapping over 8414 kilometres of tracks and recording hundreds of new Points of Interest. This work directly informs our entire product range — from our trusted print maps, atlas guides and digital mapping products.

This daily session is your chance to learn how Hema ensures every track, road and point of interest in our maps has been personally verified. Satellite data simply can’t detect washed-out tracks, temporary closures, or private property boundaries — but our teams can. And they do.

Justin will share highlights and challenges from the field, including stories like the recovery of a Hema Map Patrol vehicle that got stuck deep in the N15 Champion Spur Track, requiring an overnight stay in remote bushland and some serious recovery work at first light.
