Base Camp

Base Camp is an interactive presentation featuring your favourite exhibitors in a free and fun campground environment. Base Camp is the opportunity to “try on” the outback lifestyle for yourself and see how it fits. Grab some tucker put feet up & enjoy some live music.

At the same time, check out all the latest tents, camper trailers, 4WDs, swags and equipment and start building your inventory for your next (of first) foray into the great Australian outback.

Geoffrey Graham

Geoffrey is a storyteller, poet, muso, and theatre specialist who has been performing full-time for over 30 years. In that time, he has performed across Australia from schools to conferences and countless festivals. Recently he performed in Israel and at Gallipoli.

It was 1995 after the highly successful Waltzing Matilda Festival at Winton, that Geoffrey first appeared as ‘The Banjo’.  Since then he has had a multitude of one-man theme shows.

His Dinkum Oz style encompasses layback humour, audience interaction and a stunning grasp of bush verse. His most recent theme show is Voices of War: An Anzac Story.

David Hodge

For over 25 years David Hodge has committed himself to spending as much time on the water as possible and gathering technical information, passing it onto others who also love the sport of fishing. A well known public speaker, TV identity and journalist, Hodgie is also known as the Barefoot Fisherman and has enjoyed continued success from the industry and those who love the sport of fishing and anything to do with, wildlife, camping and the Bush.

Apart from his very well known accuracy casting demonstrations, possibly the biggest attraction is the way in which Hodgie does hands on demonstrations and proves that he doesn’t just walk the walk.

A very successful angler on most Aussie species with lures and soft plastics, he is also quite an experienced fly fisherman as well. His ability to simplify seemingly complex or hard to understand aspects of modern day lure and fly fishing is one of Hodgie’s biggest appeals to audiences all over Australia.

Question and answer time is also a very popular part of his shows which allows audiences members to ask the important questions that they wish to have answered.

Loving a laugh and having fun with the crowd, Hodgie’s demonstrations are often described as entertaining and informative for everyone from beginners to experienced Anglers alike.
