INTERACTIVE ‘BASE CAMP’ A CHANCE TO TRY OUTBACK LIFESTYLE AT THE NATIONAL 4x4 OUTDOORS SHOW, FISHING & BOATING EXPO
Base Camp is an innovative and interactive way for show visitors to experience the outback lifestyle at this year’s National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds on 17 to 19 August, 2018.
A highlight of last year’s event, Base Camp will recreate a campsite environment with food, fire and music, where show exhibitors will display the latest in tents, camper trailers, 4WDs, swags and all manner of camping equipment and accessories.
Show goers will be able to ‘try before they buy’ with the various products on display.
“Base Camp was a big step forward last year and encouraged us to bring it back bigger and better this year,” Event Director Paul Mathers said.
“We have tried to create a realistic camping environment where exhibitor products can be tried in situ, and visitors experience the outback lifestyle before they commit to purchase.
“Experts will be on hand throughout the show to assist and advise, and ensure everyone has a positive experience before heading into the great outdoors for real.
“Base Camp is a fun place to be and has quickly become the hub of the show.”
At Base Camp there’ll be bush tucker to enjoy too, while storyteller, bush poet, musician and theatre performer Geoffrey Graham will also make regular appearances to entertain show visitors.
Graham, who has a multitude of themed one-man show credits to his name, has been performing for over 30 years around Australia, from schools and conferences to countless festivals, and recently took his Aussie outback show to Israel and Gallipoli.
Children and adults alike will also be thrilled to meet and take photos with a 4WD’ing industry favourite John ‘Roothy’ Rooth, who will visit Base Camp along with both of his trusty Landcruisers ‘Milo 1’ and ‘Milo 2’.
Featuring more than 30,000 square metres of the latest and greatest outdoor products and services, the National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo will cater for every interest and budget, with the sheer volume of exhibitors and products being showcased ensuring there will be something for everyone.
Created as a family friendly event, the National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo will see Australia’s best-known and most popular outdoor authorities make appearances throughout the three day event, sharing stories, tips and advice from their outback adventures.
They will appear on the Waeco CFX Outback Stage and the Catch and Cook Stage, where visitors will be able to watch delicious treats being prepared and even participate in some taste testing.
Outside, the Action Arena is back with the All4FMX Show and Cam White Pro BMX Teams both wowing the expected large crowds, in one the Show’s longest running highlights.
Volkswagen returns too, teaming up with Four Wheel Drive Victoria at the purpose built VW Amarok Proving Ground, giving visitors the chance to push the new Amarok to the limit on a variety of surfaces including a sand trap, water crossing, and compacted rocks.
“We can absolutely guarantee that no other outdoor recreation event in Victoria has as much entertainment, expert advice, hands-on training and interactive displays as this year’s National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo,” said Mathers.
“If you haven’t been for a few years, it might just be time to check it out again to see what you have been missing out on,” he concluded.
Plenty of parking will be available at the event, while public transport options are also nearby.
