The opportunity to try a range of new 4x4 models in a real-world environment will be one of the highlights of next month’s 2019 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo, at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
A specially constructed four-wheel-drive Proving Ground built to replicate typical off-road conditions including steep ascents and descents, and rough tracks, will provide show-goers the chance to drive various new 4x4 models.
Presented by Motorama 4x4xMORE, the Proving Ground will be staffed by experts from Motorama 4x4xMORE and 4WD QLD who will provide the onsite training and share tips, answer questions and offer guidance as needed.
A range of popular SUVs and Utes from Toyota, Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi and Nissan will be on hand for show visitors to try.
“Our Proving Ground has always been a popular attraction but this year we’ve gone all-out to make it as realistic as space will allow, and to put together a representative range of the most popular 4x4s for show visitors to try,” Event Director Paul Mathers said.
“It’s an ideal opportunity for those in the market to try the vehicles in conditions they wouldn’t be able to in a normal test drive situation, with a chance to learn and practice techniques on safety, recovery, hill stall, vehicle preparation and all-terrain driving.
“At the same time it’s the perfect chance for those people who are considering purchasing a 4x4 model but have never tried one, to do so.
“We think the Motorama 4x4xMORE Proving Ground will be enormously popular throughout the three days.”
Buyers of any 4x4 from Motorama will be treated with a complimentary membership into the 4x4xMORE Club.  Providing them with the opportunity to join other members on regular tag-along trips to various iconic SE QLD locations from Moreton Island, to Double Island Point to Killarney and Gordon Country.
"Utes and SUV's continue to be extremely popular with consumers - so the proving ground will provide a rare opportunity to test some of the most popular utes and SUV's in the market back to back to compare how they perform in a simulated off road environment," Simon Clarke, Group Marketing Manager, Motorama Group said.
In addition to the vehicles onsite from Motorama retail, show visitors in the market for a new 4x4 will certainly have plenty to choose from, with Land Rover, Volkswagen and Isuzu displaying their diverse range of models and Suzuki introducing its long-awaited new Jimny.
Also numerically greater will be the number of boating and fishing exhibitors at the 2019 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo, along with camping and outdoor lifestyle specialists.
That mix will be reflected on stage too, with more than a dozen special guests speakers set to entertain and educate show goers with tall and true stories, sharing expert tips and doing demonstrations of everything from fly casting to campsite cooking.
Outside, the Action Arena will provide plenty of action and entertainment with its 4x4s, Quad bikes and Trophy Trucks.
“To enhance the experience for show-goers, we have organised air-conditioning in all exhibition buildings, additional parking and free train to Showground Station and an additional show entrance off the oval,” Paul Mathers said.
